THE EPA STORY
Tommy Cox has a passion for providing athletes the highest level of coaching.
Hailing from New York, he is accustomed to having accessible indoor training facilities. These types of opportunities were the catalyst to being able to compete at the next level and ultimately go on to play Division I Lacrosse.
In 2017, Tommy first met Michael Goerne. Mike was the Aspen High School head coach in 2015 when Aspen High School won their first state championship in lacrosse, as well as the director of Aspen Lacrosse Club at the time. Mike, who was a former collegiate lacrosse player as well, began speaking with Tommy about the necessity of an indoor venue for athletes to train year round. Over the next few years, conversation continued, and in late 2018, the project started to finally come to fruition. It was less than a year later that Michael tragically passed away.
Although the project hit a standstill after Michael’s passing, Tommy never lost sight of the idea.
Set out to give athletes the same opportunities he had, Tommy carried on the project that Michael had started, and on October 1st 2020 succeeded in opening the first indoor turf facility that the Roaring Fork Valley has ever seen.
